I am 62 years old; this is the second time I’ve become homeless. And in all this time, I've never had anyone support me until now. You do not know the joy that this has brought me.

Odilia Soto

Odilia is a 62 year old California resident, mother, and grandmother. Extreme weather conditions and other extenuating circumstances resulted in Odilia becoming homeless twice over the last 10 years, moving from couch to couch in 4 different households. Her dream is to be happy and healthy in her own home. After connecting with samaritan through Eisner Health, Odilia received a rush of support from over 16 supporters, who sent check-in messages, kept up with her, and encouraged her to continue taking case management steps that included attending doctors appointments, therapy, and navigating applications for apartments with housing navigators. Odilia is continuing on her journey to stable permanent housing, and says she s never felt more determined and cared for in her life!

Maria

Maria is 67 year old street vendor and grandmother living with a disability. Severe weather caused her income to become inconsistent, and she now faces eviction. Maria joined samaritan in 2022 through St. John’s Community Health - she has since built relationships with 18 supporters, who she says have helped her receive community support in a dignified manner that would enable her to continue to live independently.
